About The Position

Magnolia Plumbing, LLC is seeking a Residential HVAC Installation Apprentice to join its growing team and learn the HVAC trade while working alongside experienced HVAC professionals on residential installation projects throughout the Washington, DC area. The role is suited to someone eager to learn, dependable, hardworking, and committed to quality workmanship. The apprentice will assist with installing and replacing residential HVAC systems and components, support job-site preparation and equipment start-up, and participate in training and apprenticeship development. The stated career goal is to progress into a Junior Installer or Lead Installer role.

Requirements

• Previous HVAC, construction, mechanical, or trade experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong desire to learn the residential HVAC trade and develop technical skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to learn new technical procedures and apply hands-on training.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials and perform physical labor in residential work environments.
• Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, basements, and outdoor conditions as needed.
• Ability to work on ladders and safely navigate residential job sites.
• Ability to maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude when working in residential homes.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with basic construction materials, measurements, and mechanical equipment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• EPA Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, and ductless mini-split systems.
• Support lead installers with equipment replacements, new system installations, and system upgrades.
• Learn to read and interpret installation drawings, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
• Assist with installing ductwork, refrigerant lines, condensate drains, thermostats, and related HVAC components.
• Help measure, cut, fit, and secure ductwork and other installation materials.
• Assist with removing old HVAC equipment and preparing job sites for new installations.
• Perform basic equipment start-up, testing, and system checks under supervision.
• Help identify installation issues and communicate concerns to the lead installer.
• Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure materials and equipment are available and properly prepared for scheduled jobs.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout installations.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and equipment-handling practices.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, supervisors, and team members.
• Protect customer property, including flooring, furniture, and surrounding work areas.
• Participate in company training, technical instruction, and apprenticeship development programs.
• Continuously develop HVAC installation skills with the goal of progressing into a Junior Installer or Lead Installer role.
