Rental Sales Representative
About The Position
N C Machinery, the Caterpillar dealership for Alaska and Washington, is seeking a motivated, customer-service-oriented Rental Sales Representative for an Anchorage, Alaska-based territory. The role focuses on developing and maintaining customer relationships and growing equipment rental business by helping customers identify solutions for their business needs. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, energized by growth, and able to work closely with customers and internal operations personnel. The position involves prospecting new customers, making weekly in-person visits to customer offices and jobsites, providing product and financial merchandising information, maintaining detailed customer records, managing expenses, and coordinating equipment availability and rental programs. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus commission. N C Machinery is part of Harnish Group Inc., a family-owned and managed company with more than 1,200 employees.
Requirements
- High energy and self-motivation.
- A take-charge attitude and drive to help customers succeed.
- 2–3 years of outside sales experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Articulate and effective communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Rental experience is highly preferred.
- Experience selling and leasing construction equipment is preferred.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar proprietary software and related programs is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in business is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop new customers within the territory to its maximum potential.
- Maintain and build positive customer relationships.
- Conduct weekly in-person customer visits at offices and jobsites.
- Provide product information and education on financial merchandising plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed customer records, including logging and inputting data.
- Manage expenses and follow sales procedures and policies.
- Coordinate with operations personnel regarding equipment availability and rental programs.
- Communicate effectively to assist customers with their business needs.
