TPA Remote Pilot Operator

SAIC•Tampa, FL

About The Position

SAIC is seeking full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join its Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Tampa International ATCT/TRACON in Tampa, Florida. This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. The RPO supports Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controller training by playing the role of pilots and other controllers in a training simulator. RPOs operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. They receive commands from students, enter the appropriate information into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, interpret displayed information using ATC terminology, and respond through the voice communication system using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions. SAIC provides training and related support services for FAA air traffic control facilities. The FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current specialists to support safe and professional air traffic services.
