About The Position

SAIC is seeking a full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) to support the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport ATCT/TRACON in Avoca, Pennsylvania. This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. The RPO supports Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controller training by playing the role of pilots and other controllers in a training simulator.

The RPO operates a simulated radar display and voice communication system during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. The role involves receiving voice commands from students, entering information into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translating displayed information into appropriate air traffic control terminology, and responding to students over the voice communication system using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions.

SAIC provides contractor-delivered instructional and training support services at FAA air traffic control facilities. These services help prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers and provide recurrent training to current controllers.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals.
• Ability to speak clearly and be understood.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team, including multimedia developers, quality assurance staff, instructional system designers, subject matter experts, and instructors.
• Experience and certification in an ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective team-building skills.
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Basic familiarity with current technological tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications.
• Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.
• Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65.

Responsibilities
