ORD Remote Pilot Operator

SAIC•Chicago, IL
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join its Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Chicago O’Hare ATCT (ORD) in Chicago, Illinois, supporting air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Selected candidates may work between MDW, ORD, and possibly C90 in Eglin. This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. The RPO acts as pilots and other controllers in an air traffic controller training simulator. Using a simulated radar display and voice communication system, the RPO simulates pilot actions and communications with remote ATC facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. The RPO receives commands from students, enters appropriate information into the automated system, interprets displayed information using ATC terminology, and responds through the voice communication system using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification, demonstrating RPO performance on all positions. SAIC provides training and training-related support services for FAA facilities to help prepare students to become certified air traffic controllers and support recurrent training for current controllers.
