Requirements

  • Expertise in the rules governing the proof of 'material' facts in civil matters (as opposed to criminal or administrative matters).
  • Knowledge of fundamental principles of judicial law in civil matters.
  • Understanding of the object of proof, burdens, and standards.
  • Proficiency in the nature and probative force of different means of proof (testimony, confession, presumptions, material evidence, writings).
  • Familiarity with technological evidence.
  • Knowledge of the receivability of elements and means of proof (limits to testimony, hearsay, etc.).
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Passive competence in a second language.
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
