About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course "PROCÉDURE ET PREUVE PÉNALES" (Criminal Procedure and Evidence) during the 2027 Winter Semester at the Civil Law Section in Fauteux Hall. The course involves the study of criminal procedure, including court jurisdiction in criminal law, police powers (detention, arrest, search), warrants (search warrants, arrest warrants, general warrants, and others), bail hearings, preliminary inquiries, jury selection, and trial proceedings. It also covers constitutional rights applicable to the criminal process. Furthermore, the course delves into criminal evidence, including admissibility of evidence, presentation of evidence, different types of evidence (material, direct, etc.), hearsay, admissibility of prior statements, admissions and confessions, and character evidence (propensity evidence). Requirements

  • Understanding of constitutional rights applicable to the criminal process.
  • Knowledge of criminal evidence, including the admissibility of evidence, the presentation of evidence, different types of evidence (material, direct, etc.), hearsay, the admissibility of prior statements, admissions and confessions, and character evidence (propensity evidence).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course "PROCÉDURE ET PREUVE PÉNALES" (Criminal Procedure and Evidence).
  • Cover criminal procedure, including court jurisdiction in criminal law, police powers (detention, arrest, search), and various types of warrants.
  • Instruct on bail hearings, preliminary inquiries, jury selection, and trial proceedings.
  • Address constitutional rights applicable to the criminal process.
  • Teach criminal evidence, including admissibility and presentation of evidence.
  • Explain different types of evidence (material, direct, etc.), hearsay, and admissibility of prior statements.
  • Discuss admissions, confessions, and character evidence (propensity evidence).
