About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the 2027 Winter Semester within the Civil Law Section. This position involves teaching an advanced course on criminal and penal offenses law (DRC4776) in French. The course will provide an in-depth study of major offenses handled in Canadian criminal and penal courts, covering the socio-legal context, factors determining prosecution, constituent elements, defenses, procedural issues, burdens of proof, and penalties associated with various regulatory and criminal offenses, including those related to peace and public order, road offenses, offenses against the administration of justice, offenses against persons and property, and firearms and drug offenses. Requirements

  • In-depth study of major offenses handled in Canadian criminal and penal courts.
  • Understanding of the socio-legal context surrounding offenses reported to the police and determining factors in the decision to prosecute certain penal or criminal offenses.
  • Knowledge of constituent elements, means of defense, procedural questions, burdens of proof, and penalties associated with various offenses in regulatory and criminal contexts.
  • Expertise in offenses related to peace and public order, road offenses, offenses against the administration of justice, offenses against persons and property, and firearms and drug offenses.
  • Competence in French language for instruction.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities
