About The Position

This is a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the 2027 Winter Semester in the Civil Law Section at Fauteux Hall. The course, titled 'Thèmes choisis en droit : Historique des relations autochtones – couronne' (Course Code: DCC 4519, Section: BB00), is a 3-credit course with an expected enrolment of 30 students. The course offers an introduction to the management and exploitation of natural resources in Quebec and Canada in an Indigenous context. It aims to provide an in-depth reflection on the place and role of Indigenous legal orders within the specific context of extractivism, by examining existing legislation and agreements signed with Indigenous communities. The language of instruction is French, and passive competence in a second language is required. The course will be delivered virtually on Tuesdays from 18:00-21:00. Requirements

  • Expertise in the management and exploitation of natural resources in Quebec and Canada in an Indigenous context.
  • Knowledge of existing legislation and agreements signed with Indigenous communities related to Indigenous relations.
  • Ability to facilitate an in-depth reflection on the place and role of Indigenous legal orders in the context of extractivism.
  • Passive competence in a second language.
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training under provincial law.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience equivalent to the required educational and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course 'Thèmes choisis en droit : Historique des relations autochtones – couronne' (DCC 4519).
  • Provide an introduction to the management and exploitation of natural resources in Quebec and Canada in an Indigenous context.
  • Lead an in-depth reflection on the place and role of Indigenous legal orders in the context of extractivism, through examination of existing legislation and agreements with Indigenous communities.
