About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the course 'Interactions in English: Improving Oral and Written Proficiency - Intermediate I / Oral and Written Communication in English as a Second Language: Intermediate Level I' (ESL2111, Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI). The course involves comprehension of varied written and oral texts, development of note-taking skills, written expression at the sentence and paragraph levels, oral communication through guided conversation and short presentations, and further development of grammatical knowledge. The course is taught in English and is scheduled for Tuesdays from 11:30 to 13:00 and Fridays from 13:00 to 14:30, in person.

Requirements

Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teach English as a second language.
A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
