About The Position

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the Faculty of Arts is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for ESL2100, Section A00, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course, titled 'Learning to Learn: Strategies for Effective Language Learning', focuses on developing strategies for effective and autonomous second language learning, the optimal use of available resources, and the introduction and planning of a language learner portfolio. The course is taught in English and has an expected enrollment of 30 students. The schedule includes in-person sessions on Tuesdays from 11:30 to 13:00 and Fridays from 13:00 to 14:30.

Requirements

Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teach English as a second language.
Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies and familiarity with language portfolio demonstrated by the resume.
A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.

Responsibilities

Teach ESL2100, Section A00, focusing on strategies for effective and autonomous second language learning.
Guide students in the knowledge and optimal use of resources available to language learners.
Introduce and facilitate the planning of a language learner portfolio.
Conduct in-person classes on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
