About The Position

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the Faculty of Arts is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach ESL3363, Section A00, Business and Administrative Writing for Second Language Learners, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course focuses on contextualized practice in business and administrative writing, including emails, memos, letters, and informal reports. Students will develop an awareness of appropriate content and style for different audiences and purposes, learn effective use of sources, and hone their peer-editing and self-editing skills. The course is delivered in person and has an expected enrollment of 30 students. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teaching English as a second language.
  • A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ESL3363, Section A00, Business and Administrative Writing for Second Language Learners.
  • Provide contextualized practice in business and administrative writing (emails, memos, letters, informal reports).
  • Develop students' awareness of appropriate content and style for target audiences and purposes.
  • Guide students in the effective use of sources.
  • Develop students' peer-editing and self-editing skills.
  • Deliver the course in person.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
