This course provides a broad overview of the philosophical and scientific background of psychology, focusing on its epistemology and the origins of Western psychology. It covers the development of psychology, best practices, and prominent contributors from diverse cultures and demographic groups. The course also addresses research abuses of vulnerable populations, which led to contemporary ethical considerations and efforts to make psychology more inclusive, equitable, and generalizable to a diverse world. This course is offered in person and is scheduled for Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
