About The Position

This course provides a broad overview of the philosophical and scientific background of psychology, focusing on its epistemology and the origins of Western psychology. It covers the development of psychology, best practices, and prominent contributors from diverse cultures and demographic groups. The course also addresses research abuses of vulnerable populations, which led to contemporary ethical considerations and efforts to make psychology more inclusive, equitable, and generalizable to a diverse world. This course is offered in person and is scheduled for Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Advanced knowledge of the course content area
  • Competence in second language: Passive
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach History and Systems of Psychology (PSY4130 Section D00) during the Winter 2027 semester.
  • Maintain the assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).
  • Inform the School of Psychology Secretariat promptly if a class cancellation is necessary.
  • Arrange for a suitable replacement instructor in advance of any known absence.
