Registrar - Voorhees - FT (1st/2nd Shift)
About The Position
The Registrar gathers and enters patient demographic information into the hospital information system, verifies benefits, obtains required authorizations, collects patient payments, and completes accurate and thorough registrations in compliance with regulatory guidelines. The role serves as an initial point of contact for Virtua and provides excellent customer service. The position is onsite at Virtua’s Voorhees location and is full-time, with 40 weekly hours. The stated schedule includes every other Saturday and Sunday and four weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registrars must be available for three weeks of day-shift orientation before transitioning to the hired schedule; orientation schedules may vary and are set by the hiring manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Positive demeanor and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks.
- Basic typing, computer, and/or word-processing skills.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of medical admittance and/or medical office experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient insurance cards and identification, enter demographic, financial, insurance, and clinical information into the computer system, and verify that data is complete and accurate.
- Obtain signatures on required consent, medical necessity, and State, Federal, and regulatory documents, and process necessary paperwork.
- Identify, collect, and process co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and deposits.
- Help resolve billing issues by coordinating with patient accounting, patients, and insurance representatives.
- Identify and provide appropriate referrals and payment options for patients who need financial assistance.
- Provide office support, including answering telephones, scheduling, typing, and filing.
- Provide excellent customer service as a first point of contact and comply with regulatory guidelines.
