About The Position

The Registrar gathers and enters patient demographic information into the hospital information system, verifies benefits, obtains required authorizations, and collects applicable patient payments. The position performs accurate and thorough registrations while following regulatory guidelines and serving as a first point of contact for Virtua patients through excellent customer service. The role is based at Virtua Health’s Mount Holly location. The schedule is every other Saturday and Sunday, plus four weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registrars must be available for three weeks of dayshift orientation before beginning their hired schedule; the orientation schedule may vary and is set by the hiring manager.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Positive demeanor and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks.
Basic typing, computer, and/or word-processing skills.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of medical admittance and/or medical office experience; listed as preferred.

Responsibilities

Obtain patient insurance cards and identification, and enter demographic, financial, insurance, and clinical information into the computer system; verify that all data is complete and accurate.
Obtain signatures on required consent, medical necessity, and state, federal, and regulatory documents, and process necessary paperwork.
Identify, collect, and process co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and deposits.
Help resolve billing issues by coordinating with patient accounting, patients, and insurance representatives.
Identify and provide appropriate referrals and payment options to patients who need financial assistance.
Provide office support, including answering telephones, scheduling, typing, and filing.
Provide excellent customer service as a first-contact representative of Virtua.
