RN - Registered Nurse - Adult Psych - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct care to adult behavioral health patients at UAB St. Vincent’s East, in accordance with facility policies and procedures. The role includes completing initial and ongoing biopsychosocial assessments, developing and implementing nursing plans of care consistent with master treatment plans, and evaluating and revising care based on each patient’s response and changing status. The nurse participates in treatment team conferences and conducts or co-leads group therapy sessions. Care is delivered in a team-based behavioral health setting serving adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs, with a focus on stabilization, recovery, and long-term wellness. The position is offered as full-time day or night shifts, with three 12-hour shifts per week. The posting lists 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for both shift options.
Requirements
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of the hire or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Required professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Perform initial and ongoing biopsychosocial assessments according to accepted standards of nursing practice.
- Develop a nursing plan of care consistent with the master treatment plan.
- Participate in treatment team conferences to help plan and revise goals, objectives, and interventions appropriate to each patient’s age-related and problem-specific needs.
- Implement nursing plans of care for assigned patients.
- Conduct and/or co-lead group therapy sessions for patients.
- Evaluate patients’ responses to interventions and revise nursing plans of care as needed.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives, and interventions in response to changes in patient status.
