The Registered Nurse will work on a cardiac telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric patients. The unit treats patients with CHF, MI and chest pain (pre- and post-catheterization), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, PE/DVT, and vascular issues. The average daily census is 35 across 36 rooms, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5. For the present time, RNs are expected to perform their own vital-sign and blood-glucose checks. The unit uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR. Nurses may float within the facility and their scope of practice as needed. The role has no call requirements and requires every-other-weekend work unless otherwise specified. Holiday assignments depend on how many major holidays fall within the assignment period. Scrubs are navy blue. Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length. Full compliance is required to start on time; otherwise, the start may be delayed by two weeks because of the bi-weekly orientation schedule.
