About The Position

This travel assignment takes place in a hospital setting supporting the Radiation Oncology team to deliver high-quality patient care across the cancer treatment continuum. The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care for Radiation Oncology patients under the Radiation Oncologist, including assessment, planning, and implementation of care related to disease, treatment course, and follow-up. Responsibilities include monitoring patients for treatment-related side effects, managing symptoms, administering prescribed therapies, and educating patients and families on treatment expectations, potential side effects, self-care strategies, and follow-up plans. The role also involves collaborating with the Radiation Oncology team, facilitating referrals to supportive resources, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

• Current Colorado RN license in good standing; BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 2 years of RN Radiation Oncology experience (not Oncology RN experience).
• Ability to work in a hospital-based Radiation Oncology setting; strong communication skills with a multidisciplinary team.
• Education: Registered Nurse with Colorado license; relevant oncology nursing education/training.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate oncology patient care, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a fast-paced clinic environment.
• Travel eligibility with compliance to the 75-mile minimum distance rule from the assignment facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for Radiation Oncology patients under the Radiation Oncologist, including assessment, planning, and implementation of care related to disease, treatment course, and follow-up.
• Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects, manage symptoms, and administer prescribed therapies while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Educate patients and families on treatment expectations, potential side effects, self-care strategies, and follow-up plans; provide counseling and support as needed.
• Collaborate with the Radiation Oncology team (physicians, therapists, and support staff) to coordinate care, document progress, and adjust the plan of care as appropriate.
• Facilitate referrals to supportive resources such as nutrition, rehabilitation, hospice, or community services; assist with discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate documentation, uphold infection control and safety standards, and adapt to a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinic environment.
