This position is within the Perioperative Services unit, where the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individual patients and their families, adhering to professional standards and promoting patient and family wellness.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Operating Room Technique from an approved facility (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years paediatric surgery experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred)
  • Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.
  • Effectively using the nursing process.
  • Practicing according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit.
  • Providing appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life.
  • Maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice.
