About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Perioperative Services is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individual patients and families, adhering to professional standards and promoting patient wellness. The role involves providing learning experiences for patients and families to maintain wellness and achieve an optimal quality of life, while maintaining professional competence and developing nursing practice.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Operating Room Technique from an approved facility (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years paediatric surgery experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred)
  • Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.
  • Effectively uses the nursing process.
  • Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit.
  • Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life.
  • Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice.
