POSITION SUMMARY In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Effectively uses the nursing process Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit Shares knowledge with patients and families in order to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life. Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/her professional nursing practice
Requirements
- Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
- Minimum 2 years Emergency Department Experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential)
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
- Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
- Current PALS certification or successful completion of PALS certification within 12 months (Essential)
- Current CPR Certification (Essential)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
Nice To Haves
- Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)
- Minimum 2 years pediatric Emergency experience (Preferred)
- Experience with pediatric triage (Preferred)
- Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred)
