Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job
About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital in Potsdam, NY. The assignment is for a PCU/IMC/MS Telemetry unit caring for PCU and MS Tele patients, as well as pre/post-surgical patients and overflow medical diagnoses. The role involves monitoring telemetry, managing cardiac conditions, administering IV therapies, performing various nursing procedures, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. The nurse will document in EPIC, participate in rounds, and provide patient education. The position may require floating to related units to support patient flow and safety. This is a travel assignment requiring the nurse to be located more than 50 miles from the assignment location.
Requirements
- NY RN license in-hand and active to submit
- Minimum 1 year RN experience
- PCU/IMC experience within the past 3 years (required)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required
- Ability to work in a hospital setting
- 12-hour shifts
- Float to related units as needed
- Travel assignment; distance rule: must be located more than 50 miles from the assignment location; confirm radius with account management before submission

Responsibilities
- Provide bedside RN care in a mixed-acuity PCU/IMC/MS Telemetry unit for PCU and MS Tele patients, plus surgical pre/post (ENT, general, trauma, ortho) and overflow medical diagnoses.
- Monitor telemetry, recognize and manage dysrhythmias; support post-MI care, anticoagulation protocols, and cardiac drips as ordered.
- Administer IV therapies, including IV insulin and insulin infusions; manage peripheral IVs, central lines, and blood product administration.
- Perform wound care (including Wound Vac), chest tube care, feeding tube care, and routine phlebotomy; support vascular access and infection control.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team; document assessments and plans in EPIC; participate in rounds and patient education using SBAR handoffs.
- May float per unit policy to West 2, West 3, and Observation unit to support patient flow and safety.
