About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Columbia, Missouri. The role involves delivering direct patient care to stepdown/PCU patients, including postoperative and medical cases. Responsibilities include monitoring patient status, administering medications, titrating vasoactive infusions, managing IV therapy and vascular access, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other team members, contribute to care planning and patient education, and may float to higher-acuity units like the ICU as needed. The position requires active RN licensure in Missouri or the ability to obtain it, a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience, and proficiency in various nursing skills. The assignment offers 36 guaranteed hours per week with 3x12-hour night shifts.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Missouri or ability to obtain
  • Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU/stepdown) with comfort floating to higher acuity as needed
  • Experience titrating vasoactive drips (e.g., neosynephrine, amiodarone, diltiazem) and supporting hemodynamic monitoring
  • Proficient in IV insertion, PICC/central line management, vascular access, and arterial line care
  • Cardiac skills: ability to obtain a 12-lead ECG
  • Graduation from an approved nursing program

Nice To Haves

  • Sheath removal and cardioversion/defibrillation are preferred
  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care to stepdown/PCU patients, including postoperative and medical cases
  • Monitor patient status, assess changes, administer medications, and titrate vasoactive infusions per protocol
  • Manage IV therapy and vascular access (IVs, PICCs, central lines) and monitor lines and devices
  • Document care and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record; perform routine assessments and respond to emergencies
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and other team members; contribute to care planning and patient education
  • Float to higher-acuity units as needed and ensure safe handoffs, transfers, and patient safety
