About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy within a Short Term Acute Care Hospital. The role involves delivering direct patient care, coordinating perioperative care, collaborating with healthcare teams, documenting in the electronic medical record, and supervising support staff. The position is for a 13-week contract with guaranteed 40 hours per week on a 4x10-hour day shift.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse license in California
BLS certification; ACLS and PALS (AHA or ARC) required
Endoscopy experience required
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in outpatient surgery or perioperative settings
EPIC EMR experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient surgery/perioperative environment; comfortable with preop and PACU Phase II workflows; capable of supporting moderate sedation as applicable

Responsibilities

Deliver direct patient care for outpatient surgical and endoscopy patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Coordinate perioperative care across preoperative, intraoperative, and PACU Phase II workflows; monitor and respond to patient status, manage moderate sedation where applicable, and support safe recovery.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, endoscopy team, and other disciplines to ensure patient safety, comfort, and timely turnover in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
Document accurately in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and participate in discharge planning, patient education, and family involvement.
Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to nursing and support staff; promote a healing, compassionate, and safe environment throughout the patient’s perioperative journey.
