About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopedics in Pocatello, Idaho. The assignment begins on 09/14/2026 and is for a duration of several weeks. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic patients, including those recovering from surgery and managing injuries. The unit is a hospital setting with approximately 10 beds and operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. The shift is Nights, working 4x12 hour shifts. Onsite orientation is required within 48 hours of start, with RN modules taking approximately 4-6 hours and Allied modules taking 2-3 hours.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Idaho or a compact state in hand at time of submittal.
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience in orthopedics; previous charge experience preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS (as listed).
  • Experience with orthopedic care (total joint replacement, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters) and post-op management; ability to work nights on a 10-bed adult ortho unit.
  • Epic charting experience preferred; ability to function effectively in a hospital setting.

  • Previous charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult orthopedic patients, including post-operative and injury management; prioritize and delegate tasks per unit policies.
  • Monitor patients, recognize and respond to life-threatening situations; participate in rapid response or code events as needed.
  • Manage surgical drains, wound care, PCA, casting/trauma care, and post-op care; perform necessary IV management and peripheral line care.
  • Start and maintain IVs, administer medications (e.g., heparin, insulin), perform dysrhythmia interpretation as needed.
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team (providers, PT/OT, pharmacy, respiratory, social services) and document thoroughly in the charting system (Epic preferred).
  • Educate patients and families, assist with discharge planning, and ensure safe transitions of care.
