About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) assignment in the Operating Room (OR) located in Templeton, California. The contract is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 08/31/2026. The role is based in a 122-bed short-term acute care facility serving northern San Luis Obispo County. The position involves providing perioperative care, coordinating instruments and equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures.

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of practice (California)
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ACLS required
• OR circulating experience required
• EPIC experience required
• Eligibility to work in the listed location
• Flexibility to cover a 4x10 schedule with potential call shifts (1–2 nights per week) and one weekend per month

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
• two years of recent OR experience recommended
• CNOR certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Circulate in the Operating Room during surgical procedures, coordinating equipment, supplies, and staff
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists while maintaining patient safety and aseptic technique
• Prepare patients for surgery, including appropriate positioning and assessment
• Perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure nursing care planning in line with department criteria
• Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and document pertinent information in the facility’s information systems (EPIC)
• Demonstrate knowledge of life safety, equipment management, and environment of care principles as applicable to the surgical setting
