About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) located in Kansas City, KS. The role involves providing perioperative nursing care, supporting the surgical team, ensuring patient safety, monitoring patient status, and collaborating with OR staff. The position requires floating to all ORs as needed. Onboarding includes in-person orientation and EPIC training. The facility has a nicotine-free policy.

Requirements

Active RN license in Kansas or a compact state (KS or Compact RN)
AHA BLS Certification
Proficiency in one or more of the following OR specialties: ENT (trach/airways, head/neck flaps, ears, soft tissue cases), Neuro (burr holes, craniotomy), or surgical oncology (robotics)
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing; current, unrestricted RN
Ability to work in an OR setting and float to all ORs as needed
Level I trauma experience preferred; new graduates not accepted
Credentials due 1 week prior to start; in-person orientation Mon/Tues with EPIC training offered Wed–Fri biweekly
Nicotine-free facility policy observed

Responsibilities

Provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room during procedures, including patient assessment, sterile technique, positioning, and monitoring.
Support the surgical team and anesthesia providers; assist with draping, instrument counts, suctioning, and specimen handling.
Ensure patient safety and comfort, maintain sterile fields, and manage intraoperative equipment and supplies.
Monitor intraoperative patient status, respond to events, and document perioperative care in the medical record.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, circulating nurses, and other OR staff; participate in room turnover and adherence to infection control protocols.
Float to all ORs as needed to support staffing and coverage.
