About The Position

This is a temporary travel assignment in a rural, critical access hospital setting. The unit cares for primarily adult medical/surgical patients with occasional pediatric cases. The role involves coordinating patient care across inpatient medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and pediatric encounters within the Med/Surg service line, under the nursing process framework.

Requirements

• Current Vermont RN or multi-state RN licensure
• BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS required
• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience
• Meditech experience preferred
• Ability to manage care for adult and occasional pediatric patients within a Med/Surg setting, using the Nursing Process
• Flu shot required (no exceptions)
• Able to work night shift and meet on-site credentialing and onboarding timelines
• RNs prepared to care for a mixed adult/pediatric population

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care for adults, with occasional pediatric patients, across a general Med/Surg unit
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care using the Nursing Process; document findings and care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately; monitor for adverse effects and respond to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor to coordinate care, ensure patient safety, and support staffing needs
• Support discharge planning, patient education, and referrals as part of holistic care
• Maintain infection control practices, standard precautions, and safe medication administration during night shifts
