About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment in Templeton, California, United States, for a medical/surgical unit. The RN will orient to the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care on the medical/surgical unit, caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and supporting the care team in meeting patient needs. The assignment is for 13 weeks and is managed through Healthforce Healthcare LLC.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in California (RN)
  • Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (3x12 schedule) on a medical/surgical unit
  • Demonstrated ability to care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
  • Med/surg nursing experience or related acute care experience preferred
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse care team
  • Eligible to work in a hospital setting as a travel nurse and complete required onboarding and credentialing

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care on the medical/surgical unit according to the plan of care and physician orders.
  • Monitor patient condition, assess vital signs, and identify changes in clinical status; respond promptly and escalate as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments with accuracy, ensuring proper dosages, routes, and documentation.
  • Develop and revise individualized care plans; coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge needs; support psychosocial well-being.
  • Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to ancillary staff (e.g., CNAs) within their scope of practice; ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
