About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in an inpatient medical-surgical unit in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract is for 15 weeks, starting on 08/31/2026. The role involves providing general med/surg nursing care for adult patients, monitoring patient status, administering medications, and documenting care using the Meditech EMR. The nurse will utilize essential equipment and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. There is a possibility of floating to related units such as surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units as needed. The position typically involves 36 hours per week after an initial orientation period, with rotating shifts and variability in shift lengths and days. The unit is a 50-bed facility with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.

Requirements

Hawaii active RN license required by start of assignment (must apply if not currently in possession)
BLS required
2+ years of med/surg or higher-level care experience
Ability to work rotating shifts and various days; flexible with no guarantee of hours or shift preference
Proficiency with Meditech EMR and Pyxis; comfortable with essential unit equipment
Must arrive the Thursday before start date to complete employee health appointment and onboarding

Responsibilities

Provide general med/surg nursing care for adult patients 18 and older
