About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical patients in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract duration is 15 weeks, with a start date of 10/05/2026. The role involves 12-hour day shifts (3x12 schedule) and requires the nurse to float between different units as needed to support staffing. Orientation will be provided for each unit, with an employee health appointment scheduled for the Thursday prior to the start date.

Requirements

• Hawaii RN license active by start of assignment
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• 2–10 years of RN experience in medical-surgical or closely related settings
• Able to float to Medical Unit; Laulima Unit; Cardiovascular Unit (rare occasions)
• 12-hour shifts; days; scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation
• Must arrive the Thursday before start for employee health appointments

Responsibilities

• Float between Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and, on rare occasions, Cardiovascular Unit to support staffing needs
• Provide inpatient medical-surgical nursing care including assessment, monitoring, and documentation
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; collaborate with the care team
• Utilize Meditech EMR for charting; manage Pyxis, wound VAC, and chest tubes equipment as required
• Maintain patient safety with appropriate nursing interventions and accurate handoffs between shifts
• Adhere to unit-specific protocols, infection control practices, and professional dress standards (clean scrubs)
