About The Position

This is a 16-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical field, located in Atlanta, GA. The role is on a high-acuity, surgical-trauma med-surg unit within a hospital setting. The assignment requires a nurse to work night shifts, 12-hour shifts, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week. EPIC experience is a requirement, and BLS certification is mandatory, while ACLS is preferred. Candidates must be willing to work the assigned shifts without any block scheduling or planned time off (no RTO).

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in med-surg, surgical trauma, or a closely related high-acuity unit
BLS certification required
EPIC EMR experience required
Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a high-acuity surgical-trauma environment
Willingness to work on a unit with frequent handoffs between ED and admitting teams
No RTO during the assignment period

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care for adult patients on a high-acuity surgical-trauma med-surg unit, including post-operative and trauma cases.
Administer medications, monitor patient status, interpret assessments, and respond promptly to changes in condition.
Document in EPIC, maintain accurate care plans, and participate in handoffs between ED, admitting, and on-unit teams.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement plans of care, manage pain control, wound care, IV therapy, and specimen collection as needed.
Maintain a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio on the unit; coordinate with nursing support techs, phlebotomists, and the night unit secretary to ensure smooth operations, admissions, and discharges.
Adhere to safety and infection control protocols, facilitate patient mobility, and provide patient and family education.
