About The Position

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg (Med-Surg Unit) is available for a travel temporary assignment in Saratoga Springs, NY. Start date: 09/28/2026. Duration: Weeks. Shift: 3x12 Nights. Weekly pay: $2,033 – $2,128 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.0. This is a hospital setting with a Medical-Surgical unit and remote telemetry monitoring in a central location. The role supports adults and geriatrics with diverse needs including high-volume pulmonary, infections, oncology, some surgical, and end-of-life care.

Requirements

  • NY RN license (active) required at time of submission; Nursys verification required.
  • Minimum 2 years acute hospital Med-Surg nursing experience.
  • Prior travel nursing experience required.
  • Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • EPIC competency required.
  • EKG testing: Relias EKG exam within 72 hours of signing; onsite EKG exam with remediation if needed.
  • Flu vaccine required by 12/5; exemptions for medical/religious reasons must be submitted at least 2 weeks before start.
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required.
  • Healthstream modules: 12–15 hours; all required modules (except TB Testing, Orientation Checklist, and Stroke Policy) must be completed by 7:00 AM the Wednesday before start.
  • Orientation: 36 hours prior to or during onboarding.
  • References required.
  • Local hiring restriction: candidates with permanent address within 50-mile radius of the facility are not accepted.
  • Perm staff policy: Perm staff must be separated from the facility for one year before returning as a traveler.
  • Ability to work in a Med-Surg setting with remote telemetry monitoring and participate in interdisciplinary care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric Med-Surg patients, including pulmonary, infectious disease, oncology, postoperative, and end-of-life care.
  • Monitor patients with telemetry and participate in central monitoring; respond to rapid responses and codes as needed.
  • Administer medications, manage peripheral IV lines, and support oxygen therapy or non-invasive airway management.
  • Document in EPIC and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Work, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, Transport, Unit Secretary).
  • Maintain appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios on nights (typical 1:5 or 1:6) and float within scope of practice per unit guidelines.
  • Adhere to unit and hospital protocols, including EPIC charting and patient safety procedures.
