Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical at a hospital in Utica, New York. The contract duration is 16 weeks, starting on 10/05/2026. The role involves providing direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including post-operative care and managing common med-surg diagnoses. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patient responses, managing IV therapy and tubes, assessing for clinical changes, documenting care in the EPIC EMR, and collaborating with the healthcare team for care planning, discharge planning, and patient education. The nurse will also be required to float to other med-surg units as needed while maintaining patient safety.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; Nursys verification showing an ACTIVE NY license and all active RN licenses
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 2+ years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- Travel experience required
- Epic EMR (EPIC) experience preferred
- RTO (requested time off) must be included at time of submission
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital med-surg setting

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients on rotation, including post-operative care and common med-surg diagnoses
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient responses, and manage IV therapy and drainage/feeding tubes as needed
- Monitor vital signs, assess for clinical changes, and escalate concerns to the medical team promptly
- Document care and treatment in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and participate in care planning and handoffs
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other disciplines; assist with discharge planning and patient/family education
- Float to other med-surg units as required, while maintaining patient safety and care standards
