About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Rochester, NY, focusing on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The assignment is for an unspecified number of weeks, starting on 10/12/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering medications, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in a hospital setting with a 35-bed unit.
Requirements
- NY RN license in hand (active)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year RN experience
- Epic charting experience required
- Mandatory competencies: phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Ability to work in a medical-surgical/telemetry setting and float within scope
- Common patient populations: Adults and Geriatrics; able to care for diagnoses such as osteoarthritis and fractures
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adults and geriatrics on a 35-bed Med Surg Telemetry unit.
- Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion; maintain vascular access and IV care.
- Administer medications, including cardiac medications and blood products, and follow insulin and heparin protocols as applicable.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to rhythm changes; manage non-titrating cardiac drips.
- Support orthopaedic trauma and total joint replacement patients; provide wound care including Wound VAC.
- Care for feeding tubes and tracheostomy management; utilize HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac); manage PCA as indicated.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, Transport, Unit Secretary) to ensure comprehensive patient care.
