About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical Telemetry in Zanesville, Ohio. The role involves providing skilled nursing care to adult med-surg telemetry patients, managing cardiac drips, post-operative care for open-heart patients, and heart cath recovery. The nurse will also monitor ventilated patients in rare circumstances, administer medications, and document patient information in the Epic EMR. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, responding to emergencies, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring patient safety and infection control. The position requires flexibility to float to other units and participate in holiday and weekend coverage. Quick Start onboarding is available.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of cardiac step-down experience, including heart cath recovery, cardiac drips, post-op open-heart patients, and related med-surg step-down care
- Experience with Open-Heart procedures and Epic EMR
- Comfortable caring for ventilated patients in rare circumstances and able to float to other units as needed
- Availability for night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-week assignment starting 9/21/2026
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care to adult med-surg telemetry patients, including assessment, planning, and ongoing monitoring
- Manage cardiac drips, post-operative care for open-heart patients, and heart cath recovery as part of a step-down protocol
- Administer medications and monitor ventilated patients in rare circumstances, with adherence to unit policies
- Document in the Epic EMR, including vitals, therapies, procedures, and patient response
- Monitor for changes in patient condition, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
- May float to other units during low census or staffing fluctuations; participate in holiday and weekend coverage as assigned
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and quality-of-care standards during all shifts
