About The Position

This is a temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse on a Med Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting. The role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing various procedures. The nurse will also be responsible for documentation in EPIC, collaborating with the healthcare team, supporting ED HOLD patients, and participating in patient flow and float assignments between Tele units. Maintaining patient safety and infection control standards is crucial. The position requires flexibility to work holidays and weekends as needed.

Requirements

Active New York RN license (in file at submission)
BLS required
NIHSS required prior to starting
Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
Minimum 1 year in Medical-Surgical Tele specialty
Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg Tele environment and to float to R5/R6/R7 tele units as needed
Availability to work 2 out of 3 holidays and every other weekend, per unit needs

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care to Med Surg Tele patients across R5–R7 units, including monitoring vitals, administering medications, IV therapy, and implementing unit protocols
Perform bladder scans, blood draws, glucose monitoring, and other routine procedures; operate IV pumps and related equipment
Document assessments and interventions in EPIC; collaborate with the charge nurse, unit staff, and ancillary teammates (CNA/PCT, unit clerk)
Support ED HOLD patients as needed and participate in patient flow and float assignments between Tele units; maintain patient safety and infection control standards
Communicate changes in patient condition promptly; coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and escalate to appropriate clinicians when indicated
