About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) located in San Luis Obispo, California. The assignment is for a 13-week contract with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves working in a short-term acute care hospital setting with a busy perinatal service line, requiring the nurse to provide comprehensive care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients and their families. The position is for the night shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week. Weekly pay ranges from $2,736 to $2,858.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of California
• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Minimum two years of recent Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• EPIC electronic health record experience
• Ability to work night shift in a hospital setting and maintain professional, patient-centered care

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or AWHONN certification

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients and their families, from admission through discharge planning.
• Monitor fetal and maternal status, assess amniotic fluid, bleeding, and other perinatal parameters; respond to emergencies such as crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia.
• Assist with pain management strategies and support epidural catheter placement with continuous monitoring of mother and fetus.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement a goal-oriented care plan; educate patients and families at all stages of perinatal care.
• Perform ongoing reassessment, document care in the medical record, and ensure adherence to policy, safety, and quality standards.
