About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position specializing in Labor and Delivery (L&D) located in San Luis Obispo, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves planning and providing comprehensive nursing care for patients and their families throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. This includes managing emergency situations and circulating for Cesarean sections (C-sections) within a hospital-level care environment. The shift is nights, with 12-hour shifts (3x12 schedule).

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse license in California (in good standing)
Ability and readiness to work 12-hour night shifts on a 3x12 schedule
Demonstrated ability to provide care across the labor and delivery spectrum (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum)
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with CNAs and other staff
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; willingness to complete required credentialing and onboarding processes for a travel assignment

Responsibilities

Plan and provide nursing care for patients and families across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergencies and intraoperative circulating for C-sections.
Assess patient status, implement care plans, administer medications as ordered, and document clinical data accurately.
Monitor maternal and fetal conditions, respond to changes, and coordinate with the obstetric team during emergencies.
Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to ancillary personnel within scope of practice, collaborating closely with CNAs and other team members.
Educate patients and families, support emotional well-being, and contribute to discharge planning and follow-up education.
Maintain safety, infection control, and compliance with policies and procedures; ensure accurate charting and handoffs.
