About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Department at a Short-Term Acute Care Hospital in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The assignment is temporary and lasts for 16 weeks. The role involves providing direct patient care in various areas of the ED, including Main ED, Fast Track, and Observation Unit. Responsibilities include triage, rapid assessments, monitoring, medication administration, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, documentation, supporting entry screening and Covid testing, responding to critical events, and ensuring patient safety and infection control. The position offers a night shift schedule, typically 7 on/7 off, with flexibility required. The role also involves potential rotation to other departments and assisting with Covid testing or immunization clinics as needed.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Minimum two (2) years of recent RN experience in Emergency Department or equivalent fast-paced ED setting
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS; ACLS; PALS or ENPC; TNCC; conscious sedation certification (facility-provided after confirmation—with a $105 fee)
• Ability to rotate through ED areas and to float to other departments as needed; comfort with variable shifts and patient volumes
• Eligible to work in a hospital ED environment and meet facility credentialing requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ED setting, rotating across Main ED, Fast Track, and Observation Unit
• Perform initial triage, rapid assessments, monitoring, and ongoing patient reassessment; administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans; document clinical observations and interventions in the electronic medical record
• Support triage, quick registration, Covid testing/triage tents, and entry screening; participate in daily throughput to optimize patient flow
• Provide bedside care and appropriate support when rotating to other departments as needed; assist with Covid testing and/or immunization clinics as required
• Respond to critical events and codes; ensure patient safety, infection control, and quality standards are maintained during all assignments
