About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment for an Emergency Room position in Simi Valley, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on 09/14/2026, with a shift of 3x12 evenings, totaling 36 hours per week. The role is located in a hospital emergency department. Guaranteed hours are not specified, but weekend coverage is required every 3rd weekend.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to work evenings on a 12-hour shift in a high-volume ED setting
- Willingness to participate in a travel assignment and meet assignment-specific requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ED, including patient assessment, triage, monitoring, documentation in the electronic record, and alignment with ED protocols.
- Administer medications and manage IV lines using the on-unit Pyxis system; document administration in Cerner/LaunchPoint EMR.
- Perform or assist with procedures as ordered, including central lines, procedural sedations, TEE, bronchoscopy, bubble studies, paracentesis, lumbar punctures, and blood patches.
- Utilize ultrasound guidance for IV access; coordinate with the ED PICC team and on-unit phlebotomy staff to obtain timely blood samples.
- Collaborate with unit secretary staff and a 24/7 hospitalist team to ensure patient flow, safety, and appropriate escalation when needed.
