About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Emergency Department (ER) at a Critical Access Hospital in Clearlake, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on 09/14/2026, with a shift of 3x12-hour nights. The role involves providing direct patient care in the ER and potentially MedSurg/ICU areas, collaborating with healthcare teams, documenting patient information, and performing various nursing procedures. The position requires availability for night shifts and the ability to float to related departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Current, active Registered Nurse license in the state of California.
  • Evidence of current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least one year of RN experience within the last 24 months with acute critical experience within the last 12 months; or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years of experience, in good standing.
  • Night shift availability and ability to work a 3x12-hour schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • MICN desired within one year of hire.
  • MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended.
  • ER and ICU experience preferred; ability to float to related departments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department and, as needed, MedSurg/ICU areas per policy; perform ongoing assessments, administer medications, and monitor patient status.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams; document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EPIC) with accuracy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Triage patients, manage escalations, assist with procedures, and participate in patient transfers, admissions, and discharges as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing procedures including IV therapy, wound care, basic airway management, and medication administration; monitor for adverse reactions and respond promptly.
  • Maintain patient safety, infection control, and equipment readiness; float to ER/ICU or other departments as needed and per policy.
