About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) at a hospital in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 10/12/2026. The position involves working 3x12-hour day shifts per week. The ER setting is a hospital environment with a 28-bed unit, which includes 4 trauma bays, 2 behavioral health rooms, and 22 cardiac monitor rooms. The pay range is estimated between $1,810–$1,850 per week, with no guaranteed hours. The role requires direct patient care in a fast-paced ER, including triage, assessment, monitoring, and treatment of acute conditions. Responsibilities also include administering medications, IV therapy, airway support, wound care, cardiac monitoring, assisting with trauma and resuscitation, coordinating with healthcare teams, documenting patient information, responding to emergencies, and maintaining professional standards.

Requirements

  • Hawaii State RN license (active) required; license must be in place by start of assignment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Must be able to arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health onboarding and related requirements.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; willing to participate in a travel assignment as described.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications are optional but preferred: Procedural Sedation, TMCC, and EMPC.
  • ER nursing experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care in a fast-paced ER, including triage, rapid assessment, monitoring, and treatment of acute conditions.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, airway support, wound care, and cardiac monitoring; assist with trauma and resuscitation as needed.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nursing teammates, and ancillary staff to ensure timely patient throughput and safe transfers/dispositions.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic health record; uphold accuracy, privacy, and infection control standards.
  • Respond to emergencies (code/STAT situations), participate in stabilization, and support family communication and education.
  • Maintain professional responsibilities, including adherence to policies, comfort measures, and continuous quality improvement in the ED.
