About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Emergency Room (ER) located in Simi Valley, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care in the ED, including triage, assessment, stabilization, and monitoring of acutely ill or injured patients. Responsibilities include administering medications, managing IV therapy, supporting pain and fluid management, and performing various ED procedures. Accurate documentation in Cerner and LaunchPoint EMR systems is required, along with collaboration with the ED team and hospitalists. The nurse will coordinate with unit staff to maintain patient flow and safety within a high-acuity ED environment.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in California
  • Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Cerner and LaunchPoint EMR systems
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (3x12) and approximately 36 hours per week
  • No on-call requirement and no need to float to other units
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills in a high-pressure setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the ED, including triage, initial assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring of acutely ill or injured patients.
  • Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and support pain control and fluid management; monitor and use the Pyxis medication system as needed.
  • Perform and assist with ED procedures and invasive lines as appropriate, including central lines, procedural sedations, TEE, bronchoscopies, bubble studies, paracentesis, lumbar punctures, and blood patches; ultrasound guidance for IV access as applicable.
  • Document care accurately in the Cerner and LaunchPoint EMR systems; collaborate with ED team members and hospitalists; utilize available PICC team support when needed.
  • Coordinate with unit staff and on-unit resources (e.g., phlebotomy support on the ED unit) to maintain patient flow and safety; operate within the stated shift schedule and high-acuity ED environment.
