About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) assignment in the Emergency Room (ER) located in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract is for approximately 15 weeks, with a start date of 10/26/2026. The position involves working nights, with a schedule of 3x12-hour shifts after an initial orientation week. The ER setting is fast-paced with high patient turnover and a team-oriented environment, featuring 28 beds, 4 trauma bays, 2 behavioral health rooms, and 22 cardiac monitor rooms.
Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license required by start date 10/26/2026 (license must be obtained prior to assignment start)
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date to complete employee health activities
- Ability to work nights; available for 3x12-hour night shifts
- Relevant ER nursing experience or strong acute care background preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ER setting with a high patient turnover
Responsibilities
- Provide RN-level care for ED patients in a 28-bed ER, including trauma bays, behavioral health, and cardiac monitoring areas
- Perform timely triage, initial assessment, vital signs monitoring, and ongoing patient evaluation
- Administer medications, manage IV access, fluids, and blood products as ordered; assist with procedures and resuscitation efforts
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record; communicate with physicians, charge nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support patient safety, expected patient turnover, and efficient throughput; coordinate discharge planning and patient education as appropriate
- Collaborate in a fast-paced, team-based environment to deliver high-quality emergency care
