About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment for the Emergency Department (ER) in Lewiston, Maine. The assignment is for a 13-week contract with a start date of 09/14/2026. The shift is Nights, from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with a 3x12-hour schedule. The weekly pay range is $2,140–$2,232. This hospital-based ER setting includes a full-spectrum emergency center and a dedicated Chest Pain Center. Guaranteed hours are not provided. Important notes for candidates include: must not be a previous employee of the named facility, local travelers may receive a lower rate, licensure/background checks will be reviewed, travel staff may be required to function as charge nurse or preceptor, and candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location. Assignment terms may include cancellation rights per contract. Orientation is up to 16 hours and unpaid.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license (unrestricted) and ability to practice in Maine; licensure checks will be conducted
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
  • Experience: at least 2 years of ED experience; at least 1 year of critical care nursing experience recommended
  • Residency: candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location
  • Skills: strong assessment, triage, and clinical judgment; ability to operate in a fast-paced ED and function as charge nurse or preceptor when required
  • Eligibility: travel assignment; no licensure hits or background actions accepted

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process in the ED, from admission through discharge or transfer
  • Assess patients upon arrival and throughout their stay; monitor vital signs and respond to changes in condition
  • Administer IV medications, therapies, and blood products as needed; manage IV access and medication administration safely
  • Document nursing actions, teaching, observations, and patient responses in the medical record
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans; coordinate with the care team to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and preceptors; assume charge nurse and/or preceptor responsibilities if needed
