Regional Clinical Sales Specialist, Spine (New York Metropolitan) – Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Orthopaedics
About The Position
The Regional Clinical Sales Specialist supports clients in the New York Metropolitan territory and advances sales of DePuy Synthes orthopedic surgical products. The role provides clinical and logistical expertise in hospitals and operating rooms, including independent surgical case coverage, billing and purchase-order management, logistics, and asset management. The position works under close management supervision and in close partnership with Sales Consultants. DePuy Synthes Spine offers spinal care solutions for simple to complex spine disorders, using traditional and minimally invasive techniques. The Clinical Sales Specialist supports surgeons and healthcare customers by helping ensure equipment is available and functioning, providing operating-room and sterile-processing consultation, and maintaining effective deployment of instruments, implants, and other assets across the assigned territory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; or an associate degree or medical certification (such as CST or PT) plus at least 2 years of professional and/or relevant experience; or at least 4 years of professional and/or relevant experience; or recent transition from active military duty.
- Ability to work in a laboratory or operating-room environment.
- Valid driver’s license issued in the United States.
- Ability to travel, including possible weekend and overnight travel.
- Residence in or willingness to relocate to the assigned territory.
- Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, influencing, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and business-acumen skills.
- Experience in data analysis and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Results orientation and sense of urgency, including ability to meet tight timelines.
- Internal and external customer focus.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as within a matrix and team structure.

Responsibilities
- Independently guide and assist surgeons in the operating room by providing clinical and technical support for orthopedic surgical cases.
- Advance DePuy Synthes sales as the sole company representative providing direct customer support, attending surgeries, and ensuring proper equipment is available and functioning.
- Troubleshoot and use independent judgment to respond to physician needs and customer requests; manage hospital billing and create or close purchase orders.
- Share customer, procedural, and marketplace insights with sales, clinical, marketing, and strategic account teams to improve solutions and service levels and support sales growth.
- Prepare required sales reports and documents.
- Provide consultation to operating rooms and Sterile Processing Departments.
- Maintain, track, and effectively deploy equipment and assets throughout the assigned area to ensure product availability.
- Keep promotional materials presentable and ensure DePuy Synthes services and offerings meet high quality standards.
- Move instruments, implants, and equipment between sales representatives and hospitals to provide logistical support.
