About The Position

This position operates and maintains refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and following Tyson policies and procedures. General Mechanic work may be assigned to any department in the processing area of this beef processing facility. The position is limited to team members currently working at this facility or complex; team members seeking to transfer from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner. Under the union contract, job bids are awarded first to the most senior eligible team member within the complex’s Maintenance Division. Seniority from other divisions is not considered. If no Maintenance Division team member is awarded the position, qualified production team members are considered based on their qualifications and ability to perform the job. Qualifying candidates must take a tour before accepting an offer. Candidates with four or more attendance points and/or a suspension within the past 12 months will not be considered. The position involves physical work in cold, damp, or hot and humid environments, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 105 degrees. The successful candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

At least 6 months of ammonia refrigeration or boiler room experience, or 12 months of mechanical work experience in lieu of refrigeration experience.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Must be able to read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must take a tour before accepting a job offer.

Nice To Haves

Welding experience preferred.
