About The Position
This position operates and maintains refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and following Tyson policies and procedures. General Mechanics may work in any department of the beef processing facility. The role requires working in cold, damp, hot, or humid environments ranging from 30 to 105 degrees. Candidates must be mechanically inclined; welding experience is preferred. The position is intended for team members currently working at this facility or complex. Under the union contract, bids are awarded first to the most senior qualified team member in the complex’s Maintenance Division. If no Maintenance Division team member is awarded the position, qualified production team members are considered based on their qualifications and ability to perform the work. Team members seeking to transfer from another Tyson facility should contact their local HR Partner. Candidates must take a tour before accepting an offer. Candidates with four or more attendance points or a suspension in the past 12 months will not be considered. The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of ammonia refrigeration or boiler room experience, or 12 months of mechanical work experience in lieu of refrigeration experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Must take a tour before accepting a job offer.

- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, pull, reach, use stairs and ladders, and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to work in temperatures from 30 to 105 degrees, including cold, damp, hot, or humid environments.
