About The Position

Amerita is seeking a Referral & Intake Specialist to join its Intake team. The role is responsible for timely clearance of new referrals and coordinating with sales, pharmacy, access operations, and clinical staff to process patient referrals and admissions. The specialist gathers information to create patient records, communicates insurance coverage and payment responsibilities to patients and referral sources, and helps maintain a calm, supportive, and compassionate first point of contact. The position reports to the General Manager and is based at a branch location. The schedule is Monday through Friday, either 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. No supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures.
Understand the scope of services Amerita can provide.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Associate’s degree or some college.

Responsibilities

Process referrals received from referral sources.
Ensure all documentation required to process referrals has been received in a timely manner.
Complete Intake referral checklists.
Enter patient demographic, clinical, insurance, and authorization information into the computer system.
Coordinate with Sales, Access, and clinical staff regarding referral status, authorization requirements, and out-of-pocket costs due before delivery.
Ensure insurance verification is completed and the patient has accepted financial responsibility before the initial shipment.
Document progress notes in the computer system.
Notify patients and caregivers about insurance coverage and payment responsibilities.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
